Sample Agenda – Ward/Branch Council Meeting #1
Opening Prayer
1) Purpose and Importance of this Meeting
2) Create a Vision to describe what the ward/branch will be like in 5 years
Review Mission statement for Waltham Ward
Council members will share their ideas of what Our Heavenly Father would like to have happen. They should share several ideas, but they should not evaluate them at this point. (Write them on a chalk board or flip chart)
Review the ideas to determine which ones the Council members believe should be included. Narrow the list as much as possible to create a draft statement like the one the Waltham Ward wrote.
3) Establish Goals for 2009
Explain that the stake presidency has asked everyone to focus on three key areas during this year ( Sacrament Meeting attendance, referrals for missionaries to teach and Essential Saving Ordinances)
Review where the ward/branch stands in these areas today
Discuss and come to an initial agreement about the 2009 goals
4) Personal Commitment
Ask each Council member to make a personal commitment to the proposed ponder and pray about the Vision and Goals
Ask them to also prayerfully consider what they can do to contribute
5) Assignment to prepare for the next Meeting
Invite Council members to meet with their presidencies to discuss the Vision and Goals - confirm them or return with suggestions
Invite them to also determine what Building Blocks their organization will contribute to the plan this year
Bring these ideas to the next meeting which will be held _________
