Rethinking perspectives and designing new callings
|
We must recognize that the wisdom of the Lord is greater than ours.
This article highlights five ways in which that recognition can change
the way we think about ministering to others through our callings,
especially as we consider designing callings for new members.
A critical problem in the church is the interface between
investigation and membership. This article discusses ways in which
both members and missionaries can work together to ensure successful
transitions for new members.
When designing a calling for a new member, many different factors must
be considered. This chart systematically profiles many possible
callings for new members, pointing out different strengths that each
calling has.
This is the true story of how a humble branch president's simple plan
for new members resulted in nearly 500 baptisms in one year. New
members were immediately called to be ward missionaries, who were
charged with bringing another family to church. In the language of
President Hinckley, these new members had a friend, a responsbility,
and were constantly nourished by teaching the gospel to others. The
resulting domino effect generated remarkable growth and lasting
conversions.

Tools for helping new members
|
Tracking convert progression and new member development on an
individual basis is essential to both help individuals and ensure that
no one slips through the cracks. This example progress chart lists
individuals by name, along with their organizational affiliations,
fellowshippers from the ward, spiritual and temporal needs, and
milestones for progress.
